True Grit: A 50-Year Tribute pays homage to the filmmaking tradition of Western Colorado. Filming this classic Western movie in Ridgway captured the imagination of thousands of people who saw a bit of Hollywood firsthand as Ridgway was transformed into Fort Smith, Arkansas, for six magical weeks in 1968. “True Grit 50” also chronicles John Wayne’s transformation into an icon of the American Western and honors his unparalleled five-decade acting career in more than 200 films.
